Stress-Free Routes to demopark 2011 –
Significant Improvement of Traffic Situation Expected

The traffic situation will be significantly improved for the next demopark+demogolf exhibition, taking place at the Airfield Eisenach-Kindel from 26 to 28 June 2011.

A comprehensive set of measures has been instituted to ensure that visitors can travel stress-free to Europe’s largest open-air exhibition for the professional care and maintenance of green spaces. “We have developed a completely new traffic concept, and have also set some things in motion in terms of personnel, so as to achieve a significant improvement in the traffic situation for demopark in the coming year,” states Dr. Bernd Scherer, Managing Director of the VDMA Agricultural Machinery Association.

Several motorway exits available in future

He explains that moving the A4 motorway to the north represents a decisive infrastructure improvement. This means that several exits can now be used for the demopark.

The most important exit, Eisenach-Ost on the B84, is only three kilometres from the exhibition grounds. “I therefore assume that it will be possible to reach the exhibition area fairly quickly in the morning. The specific objective is that, as far as possible, from there visitors will be on the site within half an hour.”

Parking places on concrete available

Another positive aspect for visitors is that the airfield will be closed for the entire duration of the exhibition. The concrete runways can thus be used for parking, which is more convenient and also permits faster filling of the parking places. “Skilled parking attendants will ensure that the flow of vehicles is properly directed,” emphasises Dr. Scherer.

Optimised outbound traffic in the evening

The flow of outbound traffic in the evening has also been optimised.

“An additional eastern exit in the direction of Behringen will eliminate interference with cars from the western parking area.” Thus, overall, less returning traffic is to be expected on the route coming from the west, since it will no longer be necessary for all departing vehicles to use the same road through the industrial area.

Trend toward two-day visits

Roadblocks on the last day of the exhibition caused by parked trucks will likewise be eliminated, since dismantling will not occur until the day after the event. “On the exhibition days in general we will not allow access by trucks, even in the evenings,” says Dr. Scherer. Finally, a sufficient number of truck parking places is to be provided away from the flow of traffic. The VDMA Managing Director recommends a two-day visit as the best solution in order to avoid a hectic pace and rush-hour traffic: “This guarantees a relaxing demopark visit, especially since our offerings are now almost too extensive to be covered in one day.”
